- This spring, the windbreaker jacket is poised to be one of the biggest trends of the year.
- Celebrities like Hailey Bieber have already backed the sporty piece for major events.
I’m somewhat of a shapeshifter when it comes to my personal style. I’d describe it as falling somewhere in between a happy medium mix of feminine and edgy. That being said, “sporty” is one adjective I’d never use. It’s also not a descriptor I’d say in reference to Zoë Kravitz and Hailey Bieber’s style, and yet, all of us are fully onboard for one of spring’s biggest jacket trends: the windbreaker.
The It girls were among the many stylish front row attendees at Saint Laurent’s Spring 2026 Paris Fashion Week last fall, and although they styled the jacket in different fonts, it seems the two agreed on the anorak jacket being able to serve as both a utilitarian function and an incredibly chic piece of clothing. The nylon pieces might have been just a little bit too light to fully have its moment during winter, but come this spring it will be the item every fashion girl will be seen with.
Unlike the classic trench coat, the juxtaposition of a windbreaker and, say, a going-out dress is what makes this a truly great staple. You can play around with textures, hues, and more depending on your taste. And best of all, there’s no one way to style the jacket.
Ahead, see 10 of my favorite ways to style spring’s biggest jacket trend.
Twirl in Tulle

Tulle skirts are made for the girly fashion girl, and there’s something so special about seeing them paired with this technical jacket. Not too delicate, not too sporty. The vibrant indigo top acts as a welcome disruptor against the feminine ruffles and tiers of the bottoms.
Maximalist Energy

In case you’ve been feeling like a windbreaker is a bit out of your comfort zone as a maximalist, I’m here to help. Colors and textures are what can transform your look into runway-worthy. Just take a look at how fun this bold headpiece and strappy heels are in combination with this windbreaker.
Oversized Pieces

Go big or go home? If you’re going for an oversized jacket with a trendy funnel neck, you have the option to play with proportions or lean into the drama. I, for one, am partial to the drama—which is why I love how this looks alongside some baggy shorts.
Midas Touch

When in doubt, you can never go wrong with an all-black outfit. It will always look sleek and polished, but if you want to spice things up ever so slightly, pepper in some gold accessories that will pop against the dark hues. It will make your outfit look so much more editorial than a plain one-and-done approach.
Under a Dress

One of my favorite parts of my literal job as someone who observes street style is discovering new styling tricks I haven’t thought of. This cherry red balloon strapless dress on top of a pink windbreaker? Taking. Notes.
Futuristic

Windbreakers have an inherently cool, grunge look and feel, so tap into that aesthetic by pairing a unique denim skirt with edgy sunglasses to seal the deal. It’s just fun enough to not be costume-y and still wearable for an outing around the city.
Lots of Leather

Pop on a leather skirt, and I know you know the game. This windbreaker looks so stylish tucked into these bottoms. It’s a double whammy win alongside a pair of brown leather heels and a black bag of the same material.
Fresh Spring Colors

Come spring, we’ll all be a bit Glinda-fied. This perfectly pink jacket with green detailing along the cuffs and neck looks stunning all on its own. No need for much styling when the color is the main color.
Sleek and Skintight

While this jacket tends to fit a bit more loose, a snug fit will make it look even cooler. Wear it alongside some low-rise bottoms for a skintight, flirtier vibe than your normal sports jacket attire.

When in doubt, pop on some track pants that meet the assignment to a T. The outfit has essentially been laid out for you. It’s simple yet very effective.
