7 Chic Jacket Trends I’ll Be Copying This Winter

It’s not even officially winter here in the UK, but I’m already feeling the chill on my commute to and from work. And that can only mean one thing. It’s time to start thinking about the jackets I’ll be investing in this winter.

Now, I take investing in a new winter jacket very seriously. With the ability to act as the focal point and therefore make or break my entire outfit, it’s crucial that I find outerwear that is equal parts cool and timeless and that more importantly allow me to keep the rest of my winter outfits simple. And of course, I need to find a style that actually does the job of keeping me warm as well.

For winter 2025, I’ve decided to look for the chicest European dressers I follow in Instagram to get some inspiration before I officially start my hunt for the perfect winter jacket. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint. I’ve found a number of outerwear styles that feel just as modern and on-trend as they do classic. Think buttery soft suede jackets in fresher hues as well as elegant scarf-hybrid coats that perfectly balance form and function.

If you, too, are in need of some cold-weather outerwear inspiration, keep scrolling to see and shop the seven winter jacket trends that I have my eye on for the upcoming season and beyond.

1. Funnel-Neck Jacket

Style Notes: If you want your outfits to look thought-out and refined, then look no further than a funnel-neck jacket. There’s just something about this high-neck silhouette that looks so elegant. I’m especially loving wool iterations that will keep you extra warm on those super chilly winter days.

2. Animal-Print Jacket

Style Notes: Animal-print clothing has had a resurgence in recent years, from trainers to handbags. Once considered tacky by the industry, fashion people now can’t seem to get enough of these chic prints. And I’m no different. Whether it be a leopard, zebra, cow, or snake-print jacket, the pattern is interesting enough to elevate my winter outfit, but the monochrome hues will allow me to pair it with all of the neutrals in my wardrobe.

3. Distressed Leather Jacket

Style Notes: A leather jacket is a winter capsule wardrobe staple, but the chicest dressers among us have their eyes on styles with distressed finishes as opposed to the clean-cut iterations we’re used to seeing. It feels cool enough to act as a point of difference in your outfits, but classic enough to pair well with the more pared-back staples you already own.

4. Textured Jacket

Style Notes: From buttery soft suedes to sleek leather, it’s clear that winter 2025 is all about texture. But none will feel more cosy than a textured jacket. From shearling, to teddy to pile jackets, there’s so many interesting fabrications to choose from this season My only tip? Opt for neutral hues to keep these fluffy styles looking polished.

5. Scarf Jacket

Style Notes: Scarf jackets have been huge in the past few years, thanks to the likes of Toteme, and they’re going nowhere for winter 2025. In fact, not only has Toteme itself extended the number of colours you can buy this effortlessly elegant coat in, but the high street has also come out with their own iterations at a significantly lower price point.

6. Khaki Suede Jacket

Style Notes: It should come as no surprise that suede is back for winter 2025. I mean, it’s managed to find its way into our wardrobes in literally every season this year. However, elegant dressers are taking a pause on the typical chocolate hues we usually see, and instead are opting for warm khakis that are no less versatile, but act as a nice point of difference from black or brown.

7. Wool Bomber Jacket

Style Notes: Fashion people love long wool coats throughout the colder months, so it’s only natural that they’ve now turned their eyes to shorter iterations of the warm material. For a more modern look, they’re investing in wool bombers that look fresh but will also remain timeless in their wardrobes for years to come.
