Meg Stalter is taking a casual approach to the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Hacks star, 34, made a statement with her arrival to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, subverting the event’s formal dress code.
Stalter opted for straight-leg blue jeans and a white T-shirt, adding a pair of black flats, a belt and sunglasses. Speaking with Variety on the red carpet, the actress said her shirt was Hanes brand and her jeans were Levi’s.
“I think people need to bring back jeans on the red carpet,” she told the outlet. “They were in the ’90s… there’s no rules. You’re allowed to do what you want.”
Stalter also toted a black handbag that featured a label reading, “cease fire!” presumably in reference to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
“It’s the most important to stick up for people and for peace… We have to use our platforms. What’s the point of being at these big events if you’re not going to use your privilege?”
The comedian added a subtle pop of color to her look with red lipstick and red nail polish. Her long, dark hair was parted in the center and styled in soft waves.

Stalter’s hit show Hacks is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at tonight’s ceremony. Her costar Jean Smart is also nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
Stalter is no stranger to taking fashion risks.
For a July appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the star sported a DIY look.
Stalter’s white strapless top featured a photo of herself in front of an American flag along with the words “Meg Stalter is the prettiest girl in America.” She also wore dark-wash jeans and sported a long, strawberry-blonde wig that nearly reached her knees.
“Well so many people kept saying it, I thought it was probably time to put it on a damn shirt,” Stalter joked of the shirt’s text.

The Hacks star explained that she put one of her merch T-shirts onto a corset, sewing the creation together en route to the talk show.

“I made it in the car,” she said. “I sewed it on myself.”
The Too Much star was spotted on the streets of New York City ahead of the show, accessorizing her look with hoop earrings, a pair of sunglasses and a white handbag.
In 2023, Stalter opened up to PEOPLE about her daring red carpet style, which she achieves with the help of her stylist Kat Typaldos.
“Kat is so incredible, and we both are very much like, ‘Let’s do what we think is exciting.’ We don’t really go by the rules,” Stalter shared. “It sounds really cliche, but we like to break the rules and wear stuff that we get excited about.”
She continued, “To wear something that excites us is so much better than trying to fit in. We both are very creative and we’re just a perfect match, because she never holds me back and never makes me feel like I’m in a box.”
