How to Dress Cozy yet Chic for the Winter: I’m Obsessed with These

It’s the very midst of the winter season, and it couldn’t be more cold– and all of my outfits lately have been so bundled up so that I can stay as warm as possible.

The inner fashionista in me misses the cute, sunshine-filled warmer weather outfits; it almost feels as if layering up can make it feel as if outfits can no longer be cute— but that’s totally not true.

As a self-proclaimed Pinterest and social media enthusiast, I’ve been browsing around for some of the best winter fashion inspiration, and here are some things that I have noticed all the fashion girls doing:

Layers All The Time.

You need to build your way up. Starting with a basic top, a snuggly soft sweater, or a leather jacket topped with a scarf, you can make bundling up cute.

Texture and Fabric.

From cool denim print to leather brown to chunky knits, keep your outfits interesting.

Keep It Simple.

Just a pair of denim with a good low-rise fit and a long basic henley tee goes a long way.

How to Recreate Chic Winter Outfits

After studying all the ways my favorite fashion influencers are putting together these adorably chic looks, I think I have figured out how to make the outfits work in winter.

Without further ado, below are the absolute must-haves for a cool girl’s wardrobe this winter:

Get Cozied Up With A Set

There is nothing more cozy than wearing a set, and the best part is that it’s absolutely fashionable. Yes, you heard me right— though a sweatsuit may err on the side of being too casual, a set is casual yet absolutely chic.

Princess Polly might have created the cutest winter set ever, and I am absolutely obsessed with the Anok and Alpine styles. Each comes in a set of sweater & pants, and everything about it feels like you’re spending a cozy getaway in the middle of nature at a winter cabin.

The Alpine Sweater is like a hug in the form of a sweater. This cozy, thick knit features a graphic print of an abstract navy design with long balloon sleeves. Even with how loose and oversized it is, it has ribbed cuffs and waist, making it relaxed yet put-together.

The Anok Star Pants are also made with a thick knit material. I love the graphic star design print at the hem– it’s such a cute addition. The pants have a wide-leg silhouette, giving it the ultimate clean-girl vibe.

Not only that, the sweater and pants are a part of Princess Polly’s Lower Impact collection and are made with a “high-quality reclaimed polyester blend” and “materials that have been recovered from consumer use.” Extra points for sustainability, always!

I love wearing this sweater and pants set with a pair of good chesnut-colored slippers. Get a latte in hand and snuggle up with a good book, and you’re all set!

Nothing More Classic Than A Sweater

Continuing on with the cozy theme, you want to look cute in the winter without sacrificing comfort.

There is nothing more “cold season” like than a sweater, and if you want that classy look straight out of a 90s rom-com movie or a classic show like Gilmore Girls, look no further than a cute oversized sweater.

The Ananya Oversized Sweater is a pretty, chunky, cable-knit sweater. I am obsessed with the wavy cable knit design featured all over the sweater, and the small braids throughout the sweater are to be obsessed with.

I love how the sweater is also so thick. It has such a nice weight to it, and the oversized fit makes it a blend between a top and pullover, making it perfect to pair with a mini skirt and some high-knee boots for a cool girl look.

Though the Ananya Oversized Sweater comes in various shades, I am obsessed with the Monday Blues shade and Burgundy shade. The Monday Blues is a beautiful rich, royal blue shade that immediately stands out. The Burgundy is a deeper maroon and plum shade that feels effortlessly elegant.

The Ryanna Sweater is simplicity at its best. I love how the sweater itself is an easygoing, minimalist, oversized silhouette, but the bright red color of this sweater is really what is the star of the show.

The bright apple red color truly demands all attention, and it looks absolutely gorgeous paired with a white undershirt and some classic blue jeans. I love dressing up this look with some classic jewelry while keeping it laid back and casual with some sneakers.

Not-So-Basic Basic Items

The most classic outfit in my opinion is a simple canvas– also known as the neutral top and classic denim option.

The Daphne Long Sleeve Top is the definition of a girl next door. It’s so simple, yet so chic. This henley-style top has a rounded neckline complete with a cute little button-up design.

I am obsessed with how comfortable it is while still being form-fitting. The tiny top and big jeans combination was meant to be with this top.

The Sabryna Low Rise Jeans might just genuinely be the denim of my dreams. I have been searching everywhere for the perfect low-rise jeans, and I think this might be the most perfect one I have come across.

What I love about the Sabryna jeans is that they are actually low-rise— they are not afraid to keep it low and cool. I also like that it’s not too baggy; while they have a loose fit, they still have some shape.

I love this outfit combination especially for the winter because it provides the perfect canvas for layering your outfits. My favorite go-to combination for this classic look is a slightly oversized, bomber-esque cool-girl jacket, topped with a scarf, and of course some knee-high boots.

Complete The Look With A Jacket

When it comes to the winter season, a good jacket is an absolute must. However, jackets don’t have to be boring– and I personally love switching it up between different types of fabrics and silhouettes.

For this winter season, I am obsessed with the classic denim and leather jackets, because they go along with just about every type of outfit imaginable.

The Goldsmith Denim Bomber features a pointed collar and a zipper fastening down the front. It’s classy and it’s giving school girl. I love how roomy the pockets are on this, and how casual it looks.

I love pairing this outfit with my more casual looks, such as a simple long-sleeve tee with some jeans.

The Goldsmith Faux Leather Jacket is leather reimagined. With a faux leather feel that is extremely sleek and modern, I am obsessed with the collared look with the ribbed waistband and cuffs.

Leather jackets usually have a more “posh” look to them with a sharp collar and studded design, but the Goldsmith Leather Jacket adds a cool casual flair to the leather jacket department.

I love using this leather jacket to dress up a look. From mini skirts to high heeled boots, this jacket complements just about any going out look.
