The next edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, which will take place from June 17 to 20, 2025, in Florence’s Fortezza da Basso, will focus on highly advanced creative research. For this reason, the Special Event’s protanonist will be Children of the Discordance, a brand founded by Japanese designer Hideaki Shikama.
On the evening of Tuesday, June 17, at the Stazione Leopolda, Children of the Discordance will hold a fashion show-event for Pitti Uomo and its global community, in collaboration with Japan Fashion Week Organization.
In addition, the brand’s collection will also be on show inside the Fortezza da Basso in the Futuro Maschile section, the area dedicated to contemporary menswear.
“Children of the Discordance is one of the brands we have been following most closely for several seasons since its debut at Pitti Uomo a few years ago, under the support of the Tokyo Fashion Award,” said Francesca Tacconi, Special Events’ coordinator, Pitti Immagine.
“We like the autonomy of thought and the tranquility with which founder Hideaki Shikama mixes archival content and street speed, with a view to designing for the future. In June, Children of the Discordance’s special event will bring to Florence an unprecedented blend of metropolitan rhythms and fashion culture, a contemporary narrative aimed at diverse global communities.”
“We are very happy to present our collection at Pitti Immagine Uomo next June. We have been part of the Pitti community since we won the Tokyo Fashion Award eight years ago, and I am grateful for the opportunity to return after five years to present my collection here with a fashion show,” commented Hideaki Shikama, founder and designer, Children of the Discordance.

“My clothes are inspired by the cultural complexity I experienced growing up in a port city like Yokohama, and I try to incorporate the essence of this culture into every single piece. My creations aim for uniqueness—something I will continue to focus on in my research every day,” explained Shikama.
Japanese designer Hideaki Shikama was born in Hideaki Shikama and grew up on the streets of Yokohama and Tokyo. While attending fashion school in Tokyo, he was an urban skater, a rapper, and a model, as well as working in a multi-brand store.
Shikama’s career in fashion took off when he was appointed director of Acycle, a multi-brand store opened in Harajuku, Tokyo, in 2005. Then, in 2011, he founded Children of the Discordance and presented his collections in Tokyo, New York, and Paris.
He received the Tokyo Fashion Award in 2017 and is expanding his business globally. He is currently based in Tokyo and produces collections together with his trusted team, who collaborate with him in his atelier.
