(WFRV) – As the temperature decreases, the need for warm winter clothes increases. That’s why area school districts are working to provide for their students.
In the Ashwaubenon School District, Parkview Middle School is doing its part to provide winter clothing and keep students warm.

“We started collecting different needs that the community had, and it’s just grown from there as more donors have stepped forward and there’s been more need in our community,” said Amy Dillenberg, the Parkview Middle School social worker. “Families request what they need, and then our donors graciously step up and keep our boutique full.”
For those interested in donating, there’s always a need for snow pants, winter jackets, snow boots, and waterproof gloves throughout the district.
“Some of those big-ticket items that families just don’t have the extra funds for, we are always collecting. Any of the building’s social workers can help with that process.”
Educators in Pulaski couldn’t stand seeing their students shivering in the winter, so now there’s help for kids who don’t have the proper attire.
“Our ‘Wrapped in Warmth’ program started about 25 or 30 years ago,” explained Pulaski Area Community Education Director Mark Heck. “What we did is we just started collecting hats, gloves, snow pants, boots—different things for students to make sure that they would be able to always be warm during the winter months.”
The Pulaski Area Community Education Center’s Wrapped in Warmth program connects young kids in the district with the warm clothes they need.
For students in need, PACE brings the clothing items straight to their school to try on because Heck said it’s about their physical safety and mental well-being.
“With kids, the problem is they never stop growing, right? And so you think that you had a pair of boots and that you were set to go, and then all of a sudden you try them on and they don’t fit anymore,” he explained. “We make sure that the counselors try on the clothing with the students there to make sure that it all fits.”
